The Dangote IPO in Lagos Life

Since 12 October 2026, Lagos Life has shown banners for the Dangote Refinery share offer (IPO) and a Flutterwave stop on the map. Buying happens with real money on Flutterwave's website. It is not paid for with Game Naira, and it changes nothing in your game.

What the game is showing you

The banners link to a real-world share offer by Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals FZE, which the game describes as Africa's largest oil refinery, in the Lekki Free Zone, Lagos. The game's own text is direct: “This happens on Flutterwave's website, not in Lagos Life. No game money is used, and buying (or not) changes nothing in your game.” Another line in the game reads: “Real money · real shares · bought on Flutterwave · Chapel Hill Denham is the stockbroker · regulated by the SEC.”

In other words, Lagos Life is acting as an advertising channel here. The share purchase is not an in-game investment like the game's own savings or property features, and it does not affect your character's money, rewards, or progress.

Can you buy Dangote shares with Game Naira?

No. Game Naira is a fictional game unit with no cash value, and the game says no game money is used for the IPO. Some players reported on X that they tried to pay with their game balance until the form asked for a BVN; that request is the point where it becomes a real financial application. The reverse is also true: buying real shares does not add Game Naira to your account. The rules for the game's own currency are on the Game Naira page.

Bought shares through the game? Where they are

Players have asked how to see shares bought through the Lagos Life banner. According to the game's text, “Flutterwave is not a broker: your shares are held by the stockbroker, Chapel Hill Denham, and registered in your name with the CSCS.” Your shares are therefore not in your Lagos Life account. For allotment, statements, or a refund of unallotted money, use the contacts on Flutterwave's IPO page or Chapel Hill Denham, not the game's support. The game also warns that you may receive fewer shares than you applied for if the offer is oversubscribed, with the rest refunded to your bank account.

The risks, in the game's own words

“Investing carries risk. You can lose some or all of the money you invest, and the share price can fall after listing. Only invest money you can afford to lose.” This guide does not give investment advice, and nothing here is a recommendation to buy or not to buy.

How to avoid IPO scams in the game

  • Apply only on flutterwave.com or another channel you already trust. Do not use links sent to you in chats.
  • Ignore any player who offers shares, or real money for your Game Naira. Terms section 5 forbids selling Game Naira for real-world money.
  • The creator has said the real team will never DM you for money.
  • Never share your Lagos Life password, BVN, or card details in game chat.
