Lagos Life house design
House design in Lagos Life means three things: furnishing your rooms from the Buy catalogue, making the home bigger with paid extensions, and, since the update players saw on 13 October 2026, using a second floor in six duplex homes. You can also walk around your home and street at eye level, and hire another player to decorate for you. Below is how each part works, with sizes and extension prices from the game's own data, checked 14 October 2026.

What changed in the 13 October update?
On the evening of 13 October 2026, players began posting that their homes now had an upstairs, that they could change the camera view, and that they could walk out of the house onto the street. One wrote: “Theres now a space upstairs for more rooms, and an eye view” (@BgKkys on X). Another said the buildings are “now storey buildings, we can literally go upstairs, downstairs, outside our buildings” (post). The game's code matches these reports: it has separate switches for two-floor duplexes, home extensions, and the eye-level home view. Not every player liked it; one wrote “Who added upstairs for me in Lagos life… I love bungalows.”
How do you design your house in Lagos Life?
Most Lagos Life house design happens in Buy mode. The catalogue we read has at least 100 items, grouped into sleep, kitchen, bathroom, comfort, decor, fun, skills, power, pets, and luxury. Prices run from a few hundred Game Naira for small decor to billions for luxury pieces such as the superyacht. A few rules from the game's data:
- Furniture moves with you. When you move to a smaller home, pieces that no longer fit go into storage instead of being lost.
- Outdoor pieces go outside. Things like the helicopter and superyacht are placed outside the house, not in a room.
- Wall pieces need a free wall spot. If a piece is blocked, the game tells you what is in the way.
- Upstairs needs a duplex. If you try to place something on a second floor that is not open, the game says “Upstairs isn't open yet”.
Prices in the catalogue rise for rich characters because of “Big Man” prices; see how to make money for how that works.
Which Lagos Life homes have an upstairs?
Six homes are two-floor duplexes in the game's data. The house card describes the floor like this: “Upstairs: master suite, 2 more bedrooms, a family lounge and a bathroom. Walk up the stairs from the sitting room.” Every duplex gets the same upstairs layout: the main bedroom, Bedroom 3, Bedroom 4, a family lounge, and an upstairs bathroom. The two mansions call the main bedroom a grand master suite. Other homes stay on one floor, however big you extend them.
| City | Home | Area | Base size | Main bedroom upstairs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lagos | Terrace duplex | Ikate, Lekki | 11×11 | Master suite |
| Lagos | Family duplex | Magodo GRA | 13×13 | Master suite |
| Lagos | Duplex | Ikoyi | 12×12 | Master suite |
| Lagos | Mansion | Banana Island | 14×14 | Grand master suite |
| Abuja | Mansion | Asokoro | 14×14 | Grand master suite |
| Port Harcourt | Colonial duplex | Old GRA | 12×12 | Master suite |
One player wrote that you “extend your house to 18 x18 and you get an upstairs floor.” That mixes up two features. The upstairs comes with the six duplex homes above. 18×18 is the largest size in the game, reached by fully extending the Banana Island or Asokoro mansion. Duplex rent and buying prices are on houses and rent.
How much does it cost to extend your house?
Only a home you own can be extended; rented homes cannot. Each extension adds two tiles of floor “along the right wall and the front”, and the game promises: “Everything you have stays exactly where it is.” A crew builds it in about half an hour to two and a half hours, depending on the home. Small homes (up to 7×7) and big homes (12×12 and up) take two extensions; mid-size homes take three. The prices below are base prices worked out from the game's formula. The Extend button shows the price that applies to you.

An extension counts in your net worth at what you pay for it. When you sell the home, you get 80% of the extension price back with it. The UNILAG Hall of Residence cannot be bought, so it cannot be extended.
Can you walk around your house and street?
Yes. The new eye-level view lets you walk through your rooms instead of only looking from above. From the front door you can choose “🚶🏾 Step outside”. The street walk we found in the game covers Herbert Macaulay Way in Yaba: “CcHub, Tejuosho, the YabaTech gate and your friends' houses.” The game says the first walk downloads 0.4 MB, which is then saved on your phone. Players report seeing their neighbours' houses and walking to CcHub (player post).
How do you hire a decorator, or work as one?
Decorating is one of the jobs players do for each other. There are two ways to hire:
- The Hustle app on your phone: tap “➕ Post a job” and choose “Decorate my house”, or tap “🤝 Hire directly” to find someone who has listed themselves as available.
- From a chat: open a player's menu and choose “Hire them for a job”. The game's hint says: “Decorating, cooking, DJ, driving… the fee is held safe.”
The fee can be anywhere from ₦1,000 to ₦10,000,000, and the game holds it until the job is settled. You give the decorator keys for a set time. The game explains that they “can pick new pieces for you too, but nothing is bought, sold or moved until you accept their layout,” and that you see the layout and its price first. You can have up to three jobs open at once, and each job can take up to 30 applicants.
House design is also a way to earn. If you want to work as a decorator, list yourself in the Hustle app's “Hire me” section, and decorate your own home first so clients can see your work. One player said they had decorated 23 houses in a few days (post), and another said they had done more than 20 jobs before stopping because “it's tedious” (post). These are player reports, not figures we checked. For other ways to earn, see jobs and pay.
Questions
Which houses have an upstairs in Lagos Life?
Six duplex homes: the Ikate terrace duplex, Magodo family duplex, Ikoyi duplex and Banana Island mansion in Lagos, the Asokoro mansion in Abuja, and the Old GRA colonial duplex in Port Harcourt.
How do you extend your house in Lagos Life?
Buy the home first, then use the Extend button on its card in Phone → Houses. Each extension adds two tiles on two sides, and a crew finishes it in under three hours. Most homes take two extensions; mid-size homes take three.
What is the biggest house in Lagos Life?
The Banana Island and Asokoro mansions. They start at 14×14 and reach 18×18 after two extensions, and both have an upstairs with a grand master suite.
How do you hire a decorator in Lagos Life?
Post a “Decorate my house” job in the Hustle app, hire someone directly there, or choose “Hire them for a job” from a player's chat menu. The fee is held until the job is settled, and nothing in your home changes until you accept their layout.
Why does Lagos Life say “Upstairs isn't open yet”?
Upstairs only exists in the six duplex homes, and only when the game has the two-floor feature switched on. If your home is not a duplex, you cannot place furniture on a second floor.
